Frequently Asked Questions
How do I pay for a you-pick experience?
We prefer you buy your ticket through our website, using a credit card. But you can also Venmo or pay by cash. We do not keep change on hand. The cost, per picker, including sales tax, is $31.80.
Do I have to make a reservation?
No. It’s nice to know how many visitors to expect, but if you want to stop by on a whim on a weekend, July-August, 10-4, you are welcome.
Where do I park?
You may park on the pad next to our house or in the grass to the left of the drive that leads to the workshop or on the grass parallel to our long driveway.
How does this you-pick work?
1 - The you-pick field is open on Saturdays and Sundays, 10-4, July and August. It might be open weekends in June and September. Check social media for updates to the schedule.
2 - When you arrive, park on the grass along our driveway—NOT on Kauffman Rd. Head to the workshop in our backyard to check in, get clippers, and fill a cup with water. Borrow a pitcher to hold your cup steady in the field.
3 - Cut flowers the length or your forearm. Strip the leaves into the flower beds. Repeat till you fill your cup. Flowers in the field include sunflowers, zinnias, marigolds, snapdragons, dahlias, ageratum, strawflower, basil, dusty miller, and cosmos. Your cup should hold 15-25 stems.
4 - Return the borrowed pitcher and clippers to the workshop. If you want your flowers to last five to seven days, do not fuss with them until you are home and they’ve been in water for a few hours. Trim the stems as you arrange them and change the water daily for the longest vase life. Enjoy!
Can I bring my dog to Merry Bees Flower Farm?
No. Outside of our own mutt named Barley, dogs are only allowed for private photo shoots. Look for updates about a pet photoshoot—with flowers—in the future.
Are your flowers poisonous?
Some flowers we grow, like marigolds and pansies, are edible. But others, like foxglove and larkspur are toxic. Be safe. Don’t eat the flowers.
Do you host birthday parties?
