Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a club member?

Anyone who orders a subscription is automatically a club member. Perks include free admission to all u-picks and workshops with a paying guest. Club members also have access to the reserved cutting garden that contains elite flowers like roses, dahlias, lisianthus, heirloom mums, and more. Other perks are announced spontaneously throughout the growing season. Two subscriptions are available: one for six weeks in the summer and one for Hereford High School staff in September.

How does this u-pick work?

1 - The u-pick field is open by appointment, 9-5, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, July 5-August 10. (Dates may extend into autumn—check back.) Select a date and time and prepay on the website.

2 - When you arrive, park on the grass along our driveway—NOT on Kauffman Rd. Head to the workshop in our backyard to check in, get clippers, and fill a cup with water. Borrow a pitcher to hold your cup steady in the field.

3 - Cut flowers the length or your forearm. Strip the leaves into the flower beds. Repeat till you fill your cup. Most of the flowers in the field are sunflowers, zinnias, and cosmos.

4 - Return the borrowed pitcher and clippers to the workshop. If you want your flowers to last five to seven days, do not fuss with them until you are home and they’ve been in water for a few hours. Trim the stems as you arrange them and change the water daily for the longest vase life. Enjoy!

Can I bring my dog to Merry Bees Flower Farm?

No. Outside of our own mutt named Barley, dogs are only allowed for private photo shoots. Look for updates about a pet photoshoot—with flowers—in the future.

Are your flowers poisonous?

Some flowers we grow, like marigolds and pansies, are edible. but others, like foxglove and larkspur are toxic. Be safe. Don’t eat the flowers.

Do you host birthday parties?

Sure. Contact us to discuss ideas. Playing with flowers is fun!
